Rachel’s Personal Shower.

I hostessed a personal shower for my good friend Rachel recently, & I had so much fun & making food & decorating for it! It’s so exciting that Rachel will be married in a few weeks!

Marielle (Rachel’s best friend/maid of honor) came over to help me decorate, & we discovered we were both celebrating National Star Wars Day (the shower was May 4th!).

This was the backdrop for the living room.

As I’ve said before, my husband loves Lord of the Rings. So for his birthday, I made Laker an Eye of Sauron cake. It didn’t turn out quite as well as I’d hoped, but overall, it’s not too shabby!
After the Doctor Who, Harry Potter, & Lord of the Rings parties we’ve had this month, I’m not sure how to top them for Brandon’s birthday in December!

Doctor Who Party

The other night was the 21st birthday of one of Laker’s friends from high school.  I had never met him, & Laker hadn’t seen him in two years, but we ended up throwing him a Doctor Who-themed birthday party. My apartment was filled with a bunch of guys I had never seen in my life, but it ended up being a lot of fun (:

Here are the snacks I made for the party:

Marshmallow adipose:

(For those of you who don’t know, this is what an adipose looks like:)

Daleks made from brownie cupcakes & mini brownie cupcakes, oreos, chocolate chips, & pretzel sticks (These kind of disappointed me because I spent forever thinking, “How do I construct an edible Dalek?” & eventually came up with this, & then one of the guys at the party said, “Oh someone made these for a Doctor Who party I went to last month!” So I guess all of my creativity was totally unoriginal):

(Dalek:)

Tardis cake:

(Tardis:)

Not the best things I’ve ever made, but also not bad for someone who’s only seen about 3 episodes of Doctor Who!

I had the honor of taking wedding photos for my friend Val & her new husband, Jeremy.  The wedding was gorgeous, as was the bride!

Duncan Shower

Immanuel Baptist in Duncan (Laker’s hometown) threw us a wedding shower on Sunday.

They had a gorgeous cake for us! It might out-do the wedding cake (:

My mom & sister came (: & the punch was so good!

Mackenzie helped record the gifts.

Laker’s grandma & her sisters came. They were the cutest.

This was our gift from my mom (:

My sister was pretty entertained by Duncan.

The Past Few Days.

Had a cleaning & packing day recently to try to get things ready to move to the new apartment. Laker enjoyed labeling the boxes…

Went to the mall on Monday. The Victoria’s Secret dressing room made me feel uncomfortable.

Strawberry marshmallow kiwi smoothie from Pink Swirls (:

I tried to do a load of laundry. The water filled, but it wouldn’t spin. So I had a bunch of wet, dirty clothes. We had to improvise ;)

I was inspired by this pin I found on Pinterest (http://pinterest.com/pin/28499410111453497/):

My version:

Sami & I had a baking date. We made zombie cake pops. My zombie looks more like an axolotl.

Axolotl:

Sami’s roommate had the most gorgeous, perfect, wonderful, clumsy dog. His name is Bandit & I desperately wanted to steal him. I legitimately thought about it.

I also burned my finger. A bowl melted & I picked it up. It blistered up & it looks gross but neat at the same time. Or maybe that’s just because I sometimes have the mentality of a ten-year-old boy.

Laker & I decided to cook dinner, & at WalMart we ran into some friends who were on their way to cook dinner for us. haha So we combined & had a semi-spontaneous double date. Laker made mesquite chicken, I made some kind of taco-y soup (I made up a recipe), & Becc & Johnathan made burritos.

Breakfast this morning… Peanut butter & honey toast, frozen strawberries with Cool Whip, & Samurai chai mate tea.

Today’s big disappointment :(
